An Awesome Mamma

Wow... I almost forgot that I had a blog! I haven't written in almost 2 months. And am I the only one who goes back and reads my entries over again and thinks, "Wow... I sound crazy."? It's probably that I usually write at odd hours of the night or while I'm getting over being sick (like tonight... haha :).
However, I also found a couple drafts that were notes to myself reminding me of things I wanted to blog about. One of them I had titled, "Mommy Honors and Thanks", :) something that is definitely worth writing about!

The week that my mom was in California, most of the "mother" duties fell on me. Daddy was going to be at work, as well as Jake most of the days, and Chris was in California with mom. That left Caleb, Me, Lacey, Jordan, and Sophie at home. My job was to make sure that the house cleaning was kept up, the kids school got done (Caleb and Lacey helped me with this by helping Jordan and Sophie with a subject each day), my own school got done, meals were made and people actually got fed, and that the quiescence of the house remained.

If you've never had this job, or stopped to think about all the duties that a mother has, then you don't realize how much you appreciate your mother without knowing it. I realized within the first three days that my mom had a harder job than I thought. She does the laundry, keeps up with the general cleaning of the house, takes us to school, babysitting, and other places we need to go... AND she does school with the two youngest kids in our family everyday. And I thought I had a busy life! As a teenager, we just don't stop to think about all that is done for us. We think about how "hard" our life is with everything we try to fit in, like school, cleaning, babysitting to earn some money, hanging out with friends, and other activities that are "important".

I had to learn to juggle around my time and fit everything in for the first half of the week, and then I got sick. So I was pretty much useless. But I realized that the job of a mother is something that takes: skill, gentleness, patience (and LOTS of it), creativity, and just pure strength. ALL of which my mother has. It takes so much more... but it would be a lot to write! So to sum it all up... I have an AMAZING Supermamma!
(Supermamma was stolen from a friend of mine who calls my mom that!)
I'd encourage any and all of you other teenagers out there to take just a moment to think about all your mothers do for you... and help them out a little! Give them even a fraction of the love they give to you every day!

Much love!
Jen
